  • Cost to repair a leak in the dam (discovered in 1967) during the late 1970’s: $96.4M
  • Primary reasons for construction were hydroelectric power and a means for flood control
  • Shoreline measures 1,255 milesLake spread over 65,530 acres
  • Main lake is 101 miles long and over a mile wide at the widest point
  • Over 1,500 houseboats float on Lake Cumberland.
