Site:
Blue Lake
Location: About 20 miles south of Wendover, UT in the woods near the UT / NV border.
From I-80 west to Wendover, take the second Wendover exit (the exit after the notch in the mountain). Turn left. Turn left again into Wendover’s Main Street. Turn right on Alt-US-93 toward Ely. The sign for Blue lake is about 15 miles out. Turn east onto the dirt road and travel about 7 miles and you are there!
Dive Type: Spring Comments: This site has been fixed up as a spot for divers to enjoy. There are lots of underwater sculptures and the soggy shoreline has been laid with carpet to make it easier to gear up. There is a parking lot at GPS coordinates N 40° 30.107' W 114° 02.161'. Again, since the lake is surrounded by a marsh, there is a 600 ft. boardwalk leading to the lake.
The bottom of Blue Lake is moving lava mud where the warm water from the springs bubbles up! There are lots of bluegill and largemouth bass. Additionally, there are underwater sculptures and a road sign that will direct you to some of the world’s more traditional dive locales.
Associtated Costs: There is no cost to dive here.
