Site: Frank O’Connor
Location: N45° 06.87' W87° 00.73'
2.6 miles north-northeast of Cana Island, off Door County, Wis.
Dive Type: Lake
Comments: The ship Frank O'Connor was built in 1892. It was one of the largest wooden ships ever built at 300 ft. On October 2, 1919 the Frank O'Connor caught fire and sank off the coast of Door County, WI. The ship burnt to it's water line and settaled at the bottom in 65 ft. It is upright on the bottom. You can see the two boilers, steam engine, piping, and the huge 12 ft. prop. There are some other smaller item's, but please leave for others to enjoy! My dive buddy had dove this wreck years ago and recalled there being more items.
